Board of Directors Global MindShift began as a project of the Foundation for Global Community (FGC), and almost all of our board members are FGC board members. With this current Board configuration, we are able to keep our primary financial supporters up to speed on our progress and to maintain their enthusiasm and support. Going forward, as we become more established and our financial base of support widens, we look forward to diversifying our board to be more reflective of the global community, and more appropriate to our next phase of growth. Kern Beare, Executive Director In 2005, Kern left his position as vice president of corporate communications at a major high-tech company in San Jose, California, to join Global MindShift as executive director. In addition to his business background, Kern and his wife, Amy, taught English in Mainland China for two years and have traveled extensively throughout South East Asia. Kern and Amy live in Mountain View, California, and have two sons, age 20 and 13. ^ back to top Virginia Fitton, Board of Directors Virginia Fitton and her husband Don raised two children and have three grandchildren. A graduate of San Jose State University, Virginia has devoted 50 years to designing, organizing, and leading personal growth seminars, workshops, courses, and conferences all over the world. She was executive director of personnel for the Beyond War Foundation and currently serves as a trustee of the Foundation for Global Community, where she also works as a video producer. ^ back to top Joe Kresse, Board of Directors Joe Kresse is a retired partner of an international accounting firm. He has served as a director of both for profit and not-for-profit firms. He also served as a professional volunteer on the staff of Foundation for Global Community, including as Executive Director and Board member. Joe and his wife, Barbara, have two sons and five grandchildren. ^ back to top Richard Rathbun, Education and Content Director Richard Rathbun, board chairman of Foundation for Global Community, has worked, lived, or traveled extensively in over 50 countries and is conversant in several languages. A Stanford graduate in architecture, his work has focused upon international development, human development, peace and consciousness, including conflict resolution in such areas as the former Soviet Union, Afghanistan and Central America. He is currently devoted to exploring the emerging global culture and how it derives from new information from the sciences. ^ back to top Bill Wall, Chief Financial Officer Bill Wall, a financial professional with 35 years of progressive experience in the hi-tech industry, is currently chief financial officer at the Foundation for Global Community, where he also volunteers his time to serve the same function for Global MindShift. In addition to finance, Bill has extensive expertise in investment, property, and project management, and information systems. A graduate of San Jose State University, Bill is married, has three children, and resides in San Jose, California. ^ back to top
