Becoming Present (ID #001) Date: 3/9/2010 to 3/15/2010
Duration: 1 week
Host: Kern Beare
Topic(s): 1
Overview:
It's been said that most of us live either in the past or in the future, but rarely in the present moment. What does it mean to "be present," why is it important, and what tools or processes are available that help us move from a non-present state to a present one? That is the subject of this week-long, online workshop.
Topic 1: Becoming Present (week 1)
"To live fully is to let go and die with each passing moment, and to be reborn in each new one." ~Jack Kornfield This week we are going to share and learn from each other what it means to be present, how to identify when we are not present, and to explore processes for moving from a state of non-presence into a state of total presence. Each day of our workshop we'll address a different aspect of "being present." For the sake of flow, don't get ahead of the conversation by addressing questions before their day. However, you can always go back and respond or add to questions that have already passed. Day 1 (Tuesday): Introduce yourself. Say a little about who you are, what you do, where you live, and why you have joined this conversation. Day 2 (Wednesday): Share what it means to you to "be present."
Day 3 (Thursday): Share how you know when you are not being present. Day 4 (Friday): Share any thoughts or ideas you may have about how to move from a state of non-presence to a state of total presence. Days 5 and 6 (Saturday and Sunday): Reflect deeply on what it is you are present to, and why being present is so important. Day 7 (Monday): What new insights have you gained from this conversation about what it means to be present? Has it impacted your life? How? Remember: this workshop is meant to be interactive! Be sure to respond to
each other's posts, to ask clarifying questions, to share insights, etc.
The more you share, the more rich the experience will be!
